The Ministry Department
The purpose of discipleship is ministry. We produce fully functional disciples for the purpose of service, which is to fulfill the Great Commandment that says that we are to "Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself." We demonstrate our love for God by how we express our love for each other. We use the term "ministry" to refer to "the demonstrations of love toward members of the body of Christ." This purpose is distinguished from the purpose of mission in that mission is deeds directed outwardly, whereas ministry is directed inwardly to other believers.
On behalf of the Reseda Church I want to thank you in advance for looking into ways you can serve your church family.
Dr. Winrow teaches that we all given a S.H.A.P.E. by God for ministry. We have been shaped with individual gifts and talents that are to be used to support the Body of Christ. The success of the Reseda Church is not an accident! Men and women such as you have stepped up to be used in unbelievable ways. We do not want you to miss out on this great opportunity to serve God. One of the Reseda Church’s principles is that every member is a minister, and when you do not play the role that God has designed you to do for the church, the Body of Christ suffers.
There are several tools that we have created and designed to help you begin the greatest journey you will have on this planet! As the Purpose Director for Ministry 301, I look forward to serving you as you find where God wants you to serve. If you have not taken our C.L.A.S.S. 301, I hope you will, and I would love to personally meet you. I look forward to seeing you there in the near future.
Discovery Sessions
A SHAPE Discovery Session is a 45-60 minute meeting with a volunteer SHAPE Guide who’s goal is to help you find a fulfilling place to serve and express your SHAPE here at our Church. These sessions are a follow-up opportunity to CLASS 301 and are extremely well received by our members.
Where do they take place?
SHAPE Discovery Sessions are primarily held at the Ministry Center, [aka: church office]. Saturday and Sunday sessions are typically held in the Fellowship Hall, however a neutral location can be worked out between the member and the SHAPE Guide when necessary.
When will I meet with someone?
SHAPE Discovery Sessions are offered at various times of the day and week;
Who do I meet with?
Your SHAPE Discovery Session is facilitated by a trained volunteer SHAPE Guide who will depend on the Holy Spirit to direct your time as you start to explore service opportunities here at our church. We only allow women to meet with women and men to meet with men.
What can I expect?
During your SHAPE Discovery Session your SHAPE Guide will…
- Meet you in the lobby of the church worship center Spend a few minutes getting to know you
- Open your session in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide the two of you
- Review your SHAPE Profile and your Serving Sweet Spot
- Determine if the timing is right for you to begin serving
- Put together a Ministry Action Plan which will include 2-3 service opportunities that fit your SHAPE
- Be sure to take the time to answer any questions you may have Close your time in prayer

C.L.A.S.S. 301 is a four hour Christian Life and Service Seminar designed to help members discover their spiritual gifts for ministry. The Seminar is followed by personal interviews with SHAPE counselors for enabling members to find ministry involvements that enables them to serve in ways that glorify God.
