The Discipleship Purpose
The third purpose of the church is discipleship. The aim of Fellowship is discipleship, and the aim of discipleship is spiritual growth resulting in fully functional followers of Christ. Discipleship involves "teaching them to observe all things" the Lord has commanded of them (Matthew 28:20).
Our means of fulfilling this purpose is through Spiritual Growth Campaigns, seminar training that provides members with tools and resources for spiritual growth, and uplifting worship assemblies that place emphasis on behavioral teaching and preaching from the biblical text.
Spiritual growth is not so much about "doing" as it is about "becoming" - becoming more like Christ. It's a life-long adventure that takes patience, commitment, and intentional focus. It's not what we do along the way that is most important. What really matters is who we are becoming in the process. Ultimately, the Christian life is about building an intimate relationship with Jesus as the Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out.
